Riz Ahmed’s performance embodied the different stages of hearing loss emotionally well - Denial, laughter, acceptance. I thought some of the pacing was a bit rushed. I wanted to see more out of the relationship between Lou and Ruben. I felt like I just wanted more out of these characters.
The moment that moved me the most was the bedroom scene after their reunion. Ruben wanted to continue touring and all that but he could see in her face that she was so far gone. For him to reach acceptance so quickly and extend gratitude for her presence of saving his life was hella romantic but the kind of love I think we all wish we had.
Also sick title with multiple meanings.
