a classique. a banger. a true gem. this movie is so real. i mean i know it was made in the 80s, but it still stands up today. the cliques, the problems, the apathy of being a teenager. it's all there. a recipe for a flawless film. this film is comparable to rebel without a cause i think, in that regard. the fevered vision of dying to be anything other than what you already are. the burning desire to have a different life, somewhere far, far away from where you are now. everyone can relate to that, no matter what age you are, what decade you were born in, etc. everyone can see a piece of themselves somewhere in this. and that's why coming of age is one of my favorite genres.
