I guess I'm a sucker, because I really loved this. As a person who has been in a monogamous relationship for 6 years, this has some little moments that are among the best I've ever seen regarding the subtleties of a long-term relationship, especially the part where they both go to the fridge naked to get a drink after having sex, and the eternal struggle that is wanting to spend time together but also wanting to go out. It's pretty seriously nestled into a sort of vague second-wave feminism, but yeah. I just really liked this movie. FUCK, Rob Lowe and Demi Moore are SO BEAUTIFUL. Also, Elizabeth Perkins ("give me a gin and tonic or I will KILL you") looks like Millie Bobby Brown in like 15 years. This was a great way to start my film watching in 2018; sweet, sad, romantic, and resonantly realistic while also being hopeful and forgiving. It also feels like the spiritual sequel to St. Elmo's Fire, a movie I love a lot.
