As a tribute, a homage, is wonderful, but as a movie is just nice and pleasant - which is not bad at all.
planet of the apes meets heart of darkness.
i'm not sure if I like the idea of introducing Nova and Cornelius. I get that they needed a reference, but when I'm watching the original I have the feeling that is happening in a more distant future. For example, the generation of apes in the original didn't even believe that humans were once smart.
I'm really glad I see this. Mostly because now I can disagree with a lot of bad remarks that i've read about the movie.
At first sight I thought I was watching a solid, consistent, but kinda supercial movie. The saturated and vibrant color palette on a hipster vibe soon reminded me of "Moonrise Kingdom", but the director makes a more sensitive use of this colors here: because he changes them according to the scene, depending on what he wants…
First of all I have to say that, to give less than 5 stars to this movie, I'd have to point out something bad about it, right? Well, I can't do it, but I have a question for you guys:
From the moment they put the Joker in jail until the end of the movie: Is there a moment in cinema more exciting and thrilling than this?
