Zodiac ★★★★

i am the zodiac

still serenaded in an overwrought atmosphere with a compelling disturbing narrative based on true events. fincher does no wrong as the film technically looks flushed in every bathroom wallpaper color you can think of while delivering vibrant shots tunneling in a ominous atmosphere of a killer lurking that hasn’t and may never will be apprehended or discovered. the film is self-aware making it all the more tense to watch.

it is too much on the nose about it’s subject, i automatically don’t like films based on true whatever cause of the historical inaccuracies (mainly with Avery) and at times feels very sluggish. but when it sinks in you feel on alert, leaving you wondering: what was going on in the mind of the madman behind that eerie static phone call...?
