    Eighth Grade

    ★★★½

The film is great for addressing today's issues in the social media Era even though I found a lot of similarities to my teenage years for a teenager is a teenager no matter in what times he/she lives. The idea that one day you will grow up and make lots of friends is very correct, but you don't know that when you are 14 and a pretty quiet person who doesn't feel like he belongs to his surroundings. I related…

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

    ★★★

If I was to rate the movie with the idea of being related to Breaking Bad I would've given it a higher rate, just for the sake of bringing back great memories from the great series. 3 Stars is a subjective rating for the movie itself, it's just good enough!

I saved this movie to watch in autumn, some autumn, I don't know why I crave for good Asian movies in autumn. My favorite director of all time and my favorite actor of all time (Tony leung, such a charmer), with a mix of crazy beautiful characters and great cinematography and the result is one hell of a movie! By the end I thought it would be an ending similar to in the mood for love but it was pleasantly different. I'm approaching to finishing all the movies of this great director, it's a happy/sad feeling. Can't wait to watch something new from him!

Good for a Netflix movie, although the racism subject has been filmed over and over again.

    - I checked every single greenhouse near my house, If any one of them had burned down, there is no way I could have missed it.
    - Yet, you have. Maybe you missed it because it was too close.

Of course if you take a book written by Murakami (my favorite writer of all times) and you make a great movie out of it, the result would be a masterpiece! Burning is full of metaphors, you have to finish it…

Don't waste two hours of your life and watch this movie. It's extremely bad!

    ★★★½

Great supernatural horror movie that is very different from the typical bullshit you see in Hollywood (I bet they'll remake it in Hollywood and ruin it just like all the other remakes from the ring to the grudge, dark water, mirrors, shutter...) as good as the movie is, and as great as the actors are, sometime in the middle of the movie it lost some of its wow factor. I loved the ending though! Another great Asian movie for this month.. Next!

  • The Handmaiden

    The Handmaiden

    ★★★★½

I have chosen this movie for the second movie of Asian cinema month and boy Oh boy, it was mesmerizing! Cinematography is masterful! the costume/interior design, the actors, the erotic scenes (one of the best ever erotic scenes between 2 women), the plot (though not as great as other aspects of the movie), the music. This is the first movie I watch for the director (Oldboy is next, maybe thirst later) and I'm eager to watch more. Asian Cinema never ceases to amaze me, Au suivant!

I decided to make October the Asian movies month and I started with this wonderful movie. You can help but seeing the marks of the director throughout the whole movie. I liked the way it was filmed, the colors, the sets, the streets, the music, the - lack of - dialogue, and the crazy characters. One hell of a movie to start the Asian movies month with.. Au suivant!

  • Pan's Labyrinth

The movie is very good but fairy tales aren't my thing. I stopped watching it twice then decided to watch it. Great cinematography, the director made an amazing movie but I didn't enjoy the fictional part.
