Imagine how backward your society is when women's life is in peril just by buying necessities, fetching water, or plainly going outside without company.
The Breadwinner is a straightforward (and oftentimes disheartening) depiction of the Afghan lives in the early 2000's. It presents 2 parallel narratives with different but rich animations.
The wrap-up may be too open for me, but I think Parvana's family will manage.
(Cartoon Saloon works just earned a spot in my watchlist. Could be the next Laika.)
