Jennifer Kent is a talent to watch out for. She creates an unsettling mood right from the start that never lets up right till the end. A widow and her son are having problems coping with the death of the father. But it's the kid Noah Wiseman who steals the whole thing. He's annoying, funny, vulnerable, heroic, unlike any kid I've seen on a horror film or any film. Is she and her kid losing their minds or is it a real supernatural force out to get them? The movie keeps getting tighter and tighter in their breakdown or the Babadook attack. Gets real uncomfortable at times but that's the beauty of this unique horror film.
