The Ward 2010
Ending a much loved career as a filmmaker with a movie that’s just sort of mediocre is almost worse then ending it with a big disaster. People remember disasters, and even if they’re horrendous instead of misunderstood, they’re usually full of big swings from directors who know they’re reaching the end. The Ward feels like more of a shrug then a swing, and I feel like I enjoyed it more than most. But as “the last Carpenter” it does feel more underwhelming.
