  • The Trouble with Harry

    The Trouble with Harry 1955

    Matt

    ★★★★ Watched by Matt 20 Oct 2018

A man is found dead and due to various complications with people who knew him, he gets buried and dug up again repeatedly in one day.

I haven’t get much to say about this but I found it really really funny, great to see Hitchcock flex his comedic muscles.

My kids loved it and me too. Best sleep I’ve ever had in a theater.

A great movie from my childhood. I was scared that it wasn't going to hold up but it far exceeded my expectations.

I remember this film for the art style and phil collins. It was pretty good.

I do like Nicole Holofcener's cinema of middle-class malaise, much though it's strange to watch one lacking the talents of Catherine Keener. Ben Mendelsohn's central character is a frustrating man, to be sure -- in many ways he's quite the insensitive d1ck, but then again the film is clear about this, avoiding giving him too much of a break. Even if it feels like he's sleepwalking through life, from one screw-up to another (often involving his and his friends' children),…

This film makes you feel like you had a permanent smile on your face throughout the entire film. I loved almost every second of it.

    Steven Millan

This failed attempted at a snowy small town-base crime drama from director Richard Gray(THE LOOKALIKE,MINE GAMES) has two young brothers(Drew Rey[BLOOD,SWEAT,AND LIES,SECRETARIAT],Shane Coffey[STARRY EYES,HOVER]) who decide to fake a disappearance-turned-survival dilemma in the snow covered Alaskan mountain that will hopefully gain them some national public media attention, only for things to turn sour when the local town thug(Jason Momoa[BULLET TO THE HEAD,WOLVES]) finds out about their scheme and threateningly wants in on it which causes things to rapidly fall apart with…

    FANTASTIC FEST SECRET SCREENING 2018:

    HOLY MOTHER OF SUSPIRIA!!!!!!!!

This is as demented as they come. This is one of the most disgusting, shocking, and vile things out there. People are going to respectfully love this and loathe it. It’s just so insane and offers such a gorgeously rentless experience I fell for its spell. Those dance sequences are unreal. It’s not perfect but it’s darn close in my book.

  • Darktown Strutters

★★½ Watched by Kevin Matthews 23 Sep 2018

Despite knowing that my own experience of blaxploitation movies is rather limited, certainly in comparison to other connoisseurs, I am going to go out on a limb here and describe Darktown Strutters as one of the most bizarre examples you could choose to watch. I’m not even sure I can describe the plot, which often takes a backseat to some hijinks that seem to have been lifted from some unfilmable episode of The Monkees.

Okay, here is my best attempt.…

  • Red Sparrow

    Red Sparrow 2018

    Joyce Heinen

★★★½ Watched by Joyce Heinen 23 Sep 2018

“Red Sparrow” is an old school spy story, filled with betrayal, twists and strange accents. The film is almost completely set in Russia and Eastern Europe, but all characters are portrayed by non-Russians taking on a Russian accent. It doesn’t have the nuance of a John Le Carré film, but it’s a simplistic and entertaining spy thriller.

Jennifer Lawrence plays Dominika Egorova, a promising ballet dancer who is part of the Bolsjoi ballet. She has lived for dancing all her…
