Rebecca Hall’s first rodeo as a director is a bit simplistic in its attempt to observe race and class in 1920s America. However, the cast is glamorous all around, most especially Ruth Negga, who knocks it out of the park. I’m not against the technical presentation either: the B&W cinematography is quite fitting. Honestly a film worth checking out for the performances alone.
