    ★★★★

Stumbled upon the revelation that Captain America: The First Avenger is the movie I'm most fond of pre-Avengers. I guess it's my age that's changed because Steve is the person I'd like to be at 29, not Tony. The love interest/relationship is better, the villain is better, the ambition is higher. This has aged beautifully and makes me most happy.

    The Queen's Gambit

    ★★★★★

Arguably the best show of the year. The Queen's Gambit showcases Beth Harmon, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, as she ages through her professional chess career in the 60's and 70's. I may be slightly biased considering the show takes place where I grew up, but it's quite beautifully directed, acted, and written. Something that initially sounded so uninteresting is made at the highest dramatic and prestigious level.

The marketing and my first impressions of this movie are so off base. Magic Mike is so much more of a guy movie than I anticipated.

I am under the impression that the MCU works best when it serves multiple heroes in one story. 'The Avengers' is what started that notion.

Finally! A new, notable movie with the buzz and material to back it up. 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' is an improvement in Aaron Sorkin's brief directorial catalog and has most of the Sorkin-isms that we love. The content is eerily relevant at the time of its release and it's filled with great performances from actors I usually don't care for.

Hadn't seen this movie since it came out. Forgot about so much, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Only thing that hasn't aged is Portman's accent.
