Roma ★★★★

Roma is certainly artfully crafted, with abundant symbolism and thought-provoking imagery. It does take a while to get going, but when it gets going, it goes, leaving the audience mesmerized by its simultaneously intimate and grandiose plot, its engaging and accessible characters, and relatable familial themes. Cuarón’s masterpiece has some stiff competition at the Oscars this year, but Roma has more than enough to solidify its spot as a top contender come the 91st Academ Awards.
