Wrath of Man

Wrath of Man ★★

Too fucking slow.

This is Guy Ritchie’s second strike in a row in my book. Wrath of Man is less creative, but ultimately a better ride than The Gentlemen. Most of Ritchie’s sustenance seems to be lost in his lack of character building. Not only did I not care at all about any of these people, but I actually despised every single one of them, and not in the sometimes good and intentional way (like how Joffrey is despicable but great for GOT). The issue is that Ritchie tries to make these characters cool, relatable, and mentor-like. Maybe it’s just me, but I would never choose to spend more than a second in a room with any single of them.

Despite the lack of character, Wrath of Man does have killer action sequences and stellar sound design. The score didn’t tickle my fancy, and grew quite annoying towards the end of the climax, but I am glad I caught this one in theaters rather than watching it at home.
