The best Blu-ray catalogue titles

Buying older movies on Blu-ray is something of a lottery. For every lovingly cared for release like THE SOUND OF MUSIC or RIFIFI, a studio will crank out a dozen stinkers based on ancient masters that barely passed muster in standard definition.

There are loads and loads of incredible-looking BD releases of recent films taken from digital intermediates (DIs). There's no doubt about that. But that's a list for another time (and it would be a massive list indeed).
