hands down one of the best action movies ever made. My favorite film of the year so far.

this film takes place in contemporary Boston yet they never mention the Boston Marathon bombing. I bring this up because that event radically altered the culture of the place in ways that make this movie feel exceptionally ignorant of the setting.

This was my first time back in theaters since Sonic the Hedgehog, I am so glad to be able to consume film media the way it was intended to be experienced: with a small child kicking my chair and reacting loudly to every scene and line of dialogue with repetition, exclamation, or extrapolation.

I think the limited suspense and horror elements in this film were also greatly improved by the paranoia and Covid anxiety that I found myself experiencing after hearing a random unmasked man two rows back cough for the third time in five minutes.

    Movie good though

fact: this movie references Goodfellas, a film starring Joe Pesci. This confirms that Joe Pesci is an actor in the mcu.

fact: this film stars Marissa Tomei as Aunt May. Tomei had her acting breakthrough in the film My Cousin Vinny starring Joe Pesci as the titular Vincent “Vinny” Gambino.

fact: cogito ergo sum my cousin Vinny (which prominently stars Marissa Tomei) exists within the MCU and thus creates a paradox and is obviously foreshadowing!

I can’t wait for Spider-Man 4: Home Invasion to tie up these loose ends for us and heal the marvel multiverse!
