  • Kuroneko

I like to call myself a cinephile and then I ignore so much Japanese cinema apart from a few Kurosawa movies. Kuroneko was an absolute revelation for me, the way it is shot, written and acted is absolutely masterful, the story is so rich and it’s executed so smartly I was in awe the whole time. Terrific!

    Planes, Trains and Automobiles

After twenty days of unexpected returning depression, I’m really glad I picked this movie to restart my film routine. I love John Candy in everything, and I love Steve Martin even more (he’s a genius), and their chemistry is off the charts in this funny, entertaining, unapologetically silly and goofy buddy road movie. It’s a typical 1980s movie and yet it feels very unique because it is sincere, honest with its audience and never takes itself too seriously. I loved the ending, it gave an extra layer to the movie, and overall I had a great time, and I know how much I needed it.

One of the most fascinating movies I have ever seen. Rich and layered in its multiple themes, absolutely spectacular in its execution, with sensational cinematography, masterful editing and an amazing score. An entrancing, unsettling and yet pure cinematic experience that can only reward repeated viewings, which is why I'm still holding back on that final half star, but I think I'll be more than happy to give it after a rewatch. A must-see for everyone who loves cinema.

Imagine Speed directed by Guy Ritchie but with born-to-be-an-action-movie-star Jason Statham as the bus! Crazy, wild, energetic, morally reprehensible and damn fun!
