Watched at the IMAX, in full aspect ratio for first time. Maybe I’m a cornball but I’m going 5 stars on this, it’s big and sweeping and stunning and sounds incredible. Nolan’s best for sure. Big dorky movie with big heart, sue me!

The Menu 2022
Fun to watch, but not that good! Fiennes is a master of the psycho and Hoult plays a specific kind of dweeb really well, but the majority of the cast feels very wrong. Lot of the story beats feel very obviously cribbed from other movies. The lensing felt very sloppy, and almost seemed like they decided on doing a widescreen crop after the fact – the top of frame was buzzing the top of peoples heads in a way that feels very amateurish and not intentional (which is weird cause they could have reframed up in post).

The Matrix Resurrections 2021
This was a hard watch. Visually an absolute mess, with thoughtless coverage sloppily cut together. The cinematographer had to leave for personal reasons two weeks in and the A camera operator took over, it really shows. No dolly, only handheld or dreadful gimbal [update: watching BTS looks like it was a lot of steadicam actually, not sure why some of it looked so warbly on vertical axis].
