The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club ★★★★★

Everyone knows at least one person who is similar to a character in this. Whether that is a bully, someone popular or a “weirdo”. As a result of John Hughes writing such a brilliant screenplay, there are countless memorable and iconic scenes but the one scene that always stands out to me is the confessing scene. They all talk about problems that so many people have gone through, they talk about not being good enough, being disliked, jealousy, embarrassment but, because of the writing and the great performances, it allows you to relate to it so easily. Even if you haven’t experienced something that was said, you can still understand it and relate to it as a human. Hughes allowed you to step into their shoes, feeling like you were back in school, feeling like everything is life or death, feeling like it’s the end of the world if you don’t pass a test or get a good grade. But in reality, it doesn’t really matter.
