Ranked from best to worst, here are all of the 2015 films I saw during 2015. It seems to have been yet another year of nostalgia, where films purposefully count on your connections to the past to dictate your enjoyment of them. In some ways this was successful in creating a memorable experience that may someday, in turn, become its own piece of nostalgia. In other ways, this tried to cash in and/or improve on something that didn't need improving upon. Even worse, and often the case, it fostered unoriginality and made "new" films feel old and stale.
With remakes and sequels galore, and absolutely ruling the box office, there was already some built in nostalgic effects. There was, however, still nostalgic connections being infused into completely original content as well. How far should that envelope of the past be pushed? This year surely put that to the test, and not everyone came out a winner.
