When a movie overwhelmingly uses shallow focus it loses opportunities for depth cues and complex geometry. Just amazed by how this film embraces a bewildering, unhinged personality and ultra-spastic, unpolished aesthetic while also genuinely striving for beauty, pathos, and now and then the sublime. It's a major work of animation, an anti-masterpiece, possibly the best film example of Outsider Art I've ever seen.
