    Knight of Cups

Another magisterial work from Malick. This film reminds me of Hermann Hesse a lot, of a man stuck in some kind of spiritual plateau and on the prowl for something new, something fulfilling. The movie ends with Bale swimming through water that’s dirtied from the tide that rolls in and out, just as our lives seemingly drift in and out of satisfaction and emptiness. Malick’s movies could be dissected, but you’d do yourself a disservice trying to interpret it in a lens that drains any magic from the film.

    Little Women

Does nothing new, challenges nothing about the dated text it is based off of. Does not subvert the text. Has no character, it is almost meaningless, even at a time where such a book could be subverted, interpreted, deconstructed in so many different ways: yet nothing of the sort. This is just awful
