love the vulgarity here that arises from the interplay of wan's impeccable craft meeting such low down pulp narrative. i knew exactly what this film was from the prologue, and i'm thankful for that! is it too revealing of me to say how gorgeous this film is? loved the third person video game moments in the fantastical underground carnival. the camera hanging over as if i'm playing resident evil 4 while george young cautiously wades through all the stage smoke. and i don't know, i'm no expert on giallo, but the joy this film has with the slashing is unbridled, and so to the weight of the distinction i say: tout est grace.
