Top Gun: Maverick is one of the best cohesive legacy sequels. Nothing shoehorned or forced, but also bringing technology to the forefront. Not just in world, but in reality. Kosinski has always shown a knack for visuals, but him and his crew really took it to another level here. A strong showcase for Cruise proving that age doesn’t mean rust.
Okay. I might get shit for this. But this movie is way better then it ought to be. It’s got laughs, thrills, and some genuine scares. Anchored by solid performances from Shia Labeouf and David Morse this is a movie that if you haven’t seen it because it looked like a cheap ripoff of rear window, think again. It stands on its own and is a decent little movie. I guess it’s another Shia surprise.
