"Gentlemen. You can't fight in here, this is the war room!"
This is a hilarious film.
It took me being locked on a plane, having exhausted all other available (and worthy) options on the in-flight movie menu, to actually sit down with a movie I've been meaning to watch for over a decade. It's an older film, and predominantly about US foreign politics - so despite being a Kubrick film, it had two strikes immediately against it, if I had to justify my postponement.
I'm sure a five inch screen is exactly on what Kubrick would have wanted me to experience this fantastic film.
Some barely forgivable composited effects sequences and a few unnecessary slapstick moments are easily made up for by hilarious dialogue and brilliant characters. Minimal (but meticulous) set designs and simple, befuddling situational comedy add up to a great classic film.
