The Godfather

The Godfather ★★★★½

watched in theaters(!)

An absolute masterpiece of storytelling and filmmaking, The Godfather, is, put simply, one excellent, transfixing, beautiful scene after another. And another. And another and another and another.. FOR THREE HOURS! That's fucking insane!

And all of it's fascinating. So captivatingly real. More times than not it feels more documentary than scripted.

Take a look at that wedding scene. WHAT?? This was staged?? Feels like stock footage (albeit Gordon-Willis-shot stock footage) straight out of an actual Italian wedding.

Marlon Brando is the absolute focus of every scene he's in, as for Pacino, but it's these powerhouse performances from those two and so many more (Duvall, Caan, etc.) that really and I mean reeeeally suck you in.

It's one of the best films of all time, it's all been said before honestly what am I even doing right now
