green thunder’s review published on Letterboxd:
As a treatise on greed and the American Dream, The Wolf of Wall Street is toothless. As a subversive comedy, it's largely laugh-free and its debaucherous comic setpieces one-upped the icky buffoonery of The Hangover. The film's characters are grotesque and cartoonish and the runtime and pacing are inexcusable.
Maybe Scorsese is attempting a Spring Breakers-level ultra goof, but if so, he failed.
