River of Grass

River of Grass ★★★★

Fits in to the Wanda/Badlands/Sun Don't Shine mould of films where isolated and disillusioned characters go to all lengths to escape that miasma of monotony. People wanting to escape their situations but ultimately realising they just want to escape themselves – nothing changes, things remain the same.

Even feels like a direct homage to Wanda in a lot of ways, especially the colour palette used throughout — the shades of blue that permeate the whole thing. Ending is great, when she just opens & closes the car door, boy oh boy.
