What kept me away from this film at first is how the premise sounds so bleak and claustrophobic. The story indeed gets really dark, almost punishingly so. But the enclosed space of the train (essentially every scene but the last one) makes for some creative -- and wonderfully brutal -- action sequences. Meanwhile, the film makes distinct worlds from each new rail car that is entered. The whole feel of the movie is of an intense but ridiculously fun video game.
How crazy was that axe battle/torches/sushi/kindergartner/egg sequence?
