    Hello Friends!

I finally finished the third video essay in my Pixar and the Art of Cold Opens trilogy. It is my love letter to The Perfect Opening of A Bug's Life. I hope you enjoy it.

I was originally going to write an overly honest essay about the reasons why this didn't release last December but instead I thought I'll just let James Acaster explain:

"I started making it, had a breakdown… bon appétit."

    Hello friends!

I wrote and edited a video essay series that analyzes various cold opens in three Pixar classics.

The second one is about WALL-E and you can view it right here.

It may not be Nerdwriter or Kaptain Kristian quality but I put a lot of work into it and I am proud of how it came out. If you liked any of my longform reviews on this site, I hope you give this video a view, like, comment, and/or share. It would mean a lot.

    Thank you!

Spider-Man helped to save half of Earth’s population. You’re telling me the federal government can’t overlook one murder? The general American public overlooks murders that happened overseas all the time. Why is Mysterio special? Why is Sandman in this? He wasn’t killed. He didn’t die.

Fire the joke writers then put them all on a list, please. Funny or Die interns can do better than this.

There’s a great Nerdwriter video essay on how DC movies emphasize moments over scenes.…

The lights come up. Farhadi leans over to his son. “And that’s why you don’t report missing gold.”

Quite possibly the best movie about social media ever made? Role models will always disappoint because their status as a role model necessitates objectification that removes all dimensions of their humanity. All role models must reject this objectification or risk becoming a victim of it.
