This film does an amazing job of demonstrating Latour’s idea in Laboratory Life: science is primarily a social practice. We can fantasize all we want about the truthiness of positivist ideology but at the end of the day this is almost all interpretation, politicking, and consensus building. Yes, as one of the main players says in the end, truth is a feeling.
The French Parallax View: equally cynical about the machinations and holders of power but a few less degrees of paranoia. Has all the ingredients of genius (Delon, Kinski, and Getz) but drags and occasionally falls into incoherence. Could use an editor and cut 20 minutes.
