Worth the watch just for the incredible performances of Shia LaBeouf, Noah Jupe and in particular Lucas Hedges.
Cathartic, raw and an absolute gut punch. Pretty good for my 700th film.
Considering the current climate, this film could’ve been easily mishandled but I thought it nailed a perfect balance of comedy and seriousness by having the brutality of the Nazi regime and atrocities of war bubbling underneath, ready to pop out any moment.
Well put together while not being preachy about its message, well acted and great choice of music - as far as heartfelt films go this is my second favourite one in 2019 after Peanut Butter Falcon.
This film is bonkers.
It's been a while since I have seen an artsy film that felt unpretentious but here's this slow-burning, black and white, thematically layered and mythology-infused psychological drama about isolation and madness - with comedic punchlines and humorous in the right places.
The Lighthouse is intoxicating and consistently mesmerising, and it isn't afraid to make you think and laugh as well. On a technical level this film is flawless - perhaps the best looking films you will…
Wished I had the same amount of swag Evan McGregor has when putting on my surgical mask.
