The Thing 1982
The design and puppetry is rightly lauded, but I also love the visceral, elemental juxtaposition of temperature extremes throughout; everything is either freezing or burning. The combination of the cold arctic setting with steaming flesh and the torching of mangled bodies is so visually and sensuously arresting, infusing the paranoia with acute elemental substance.
