Holy fucking shit. I loved every minute of this. Just absolutely blown away.
Nathan Fielder was called the “wizard of loneliness” in an earlier episode of his show, but this episode really cements that; he’s a subtly incisive chronicler of our essential loneliness as humans and our desperate longing for connection. And though he often does it through a ridiculous facade of faux-reality show business shenanigans, here that all drops in favor of a heartbreakingly earnest quest for lost love and really brings the focus of his show into the light.
