the movie gets two stars but paul dano deserves five stars

I watched this on a whim and it was unexpectedly good! Really loved the practical effects

The beginning feels like the same repetitive b-horror, but the last third of the movie is an extremely wild and entertaining ride. Should have definitely cut another twenty minutes off and recast some of the side characters, but the craziness is worth the flaws. Also lots of similarities with Takashi Miike's Imprint

mia wasikowska is soooo quirked up

watching jake gyllenhaal sob and scream is strangely cathartic

haha jizz sash (also i really enjoyed this as an adaptation)

surprised this is made by the same guy who did the grudge remake, because this has a few great scenes and the grudge remake is literally unwatchable

I couldn't even finish this, which is saying a lot because I usually love bad horror movies
