Always sign me up when there's a lead fearless enough to threaten a poltergeist and punch a spirit, suddenly a haunted door becomes a nuisance and a possessed doll is turned into a punching bag, which the idea alone is amusing enough let alone the execution. This film has some clever ways to subvert horror tropes i.e. characters jumping into immediate action instead of brushing things off as "eh, just the wind" plus the reluctance to use the word "haunted" which led to a genuinely hilarious moment. Housebound is definitely a hidden horror gem and I just love how the film made me care about the characters enough to gasp at every misfortune encountered (especially when a mistake was made with shears, had to cover my eyes.) Thank you Ariel for the recommendation!
