"The Chaser" ? more like "The Presuctiaion"
It starts as your typical "find the killer" movie, but it quickly becomes a "prove that he is the killer" movie, which will turn a lot of people off.
But I loved every second of it, it's a well-crafted crime thriller with great directing and amazing editing, a thing that never gets praised.
Sam Raimi's return to horror it's surprisingly gross for a PG-13 movie, it's less campy and stylized than its Evil Dead movies, but it has is Raimi moments, especially in the last 30 minutes, that are pretty crazy. I just wish there wasn't so much use of CGI because it looked awful.
Eighty minutes of unlikable characters walking around the woods, complaining and screaming while absolutely nothing else happens, but oh no there are rocks on the ground, so spooky.
This is the closest we will ever get to see a superhero movie directed by David Fincher.
The cinematography and atmosphere are amazing, the best in the genre, and the script...it's fine, there is nothing wrong with it, but there is nothing memorable about it either, this in the hands of another superhero movie director could easily become extremely boring.
For me this is the best John Wick movie, yes the action is not as good Chapter 2 and 3, But everything else works so well, the movie takes its time to introduce their characters and their motivation (32 minutes for the first action scene), John wants revenge because it gives him a purpose and makes him believe that is revenging his wife, and Viggo is just trying to protect his son, even the smaller roles like the John Leguizamo character steals…
