Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ★★★½

The Cassian and Jyn characters are problematic. Cassian had zero charm, especially when compared to his closest doppelganger (Han Solo), and was too dark. When first introduced he straight murders an informant without much thought or explanation other than "in war we do these things" type stuff throughout the film. Jyn is also too serious, and vacant. Jyn's closest doppelganger (Rey) outshines her in most every way - most notably in the "fun to watch" department. Still, it is Star Wars, and when the space action ramps up towards the end its comfort food for the nerd soul - and in those moments it's a decent entry in the continuing Star Wars apology films world tour.
