“Meh” is literally the only word I can use to describe Spiral: From the Book of Saw. This film drags so much in the first half that I genuinely thought everyone was ignoring my texts before I realised that only like 25 minutes had passed.

    I wish I was joking.

While the second half does pick up, the Jigsaw was genuinely compelling (and threw out some annoyingly kinda right ideologies and quotes in his big reveal), and I liked most…

This was genuinely so good! It looks great visually, and, while I think sometimes the sound mixing was poor, I did really like the score too. It’s sense of humour and characters were both fun and kept me interested throughout it, even if I felt like it was longer than it actually was to me. Colour grading (or maybe it was just the lighting) and cinematography were both, again, standouts, similar to Wells’ other work. So self aware too, really enjoyed it!

Sometimes it’s a little too dumb, and some of the script had some pretty weak moments, but Snyder’s own great cinematography, a cool ensemble cast, fantastic action, an awesome score and a one or two decent scares and thrills paired with a new take on the zombie genre make Army of the Dead an absolute blast, though those two and a half hours felt like they dragged, and it’s fucking incredible that this was done on a 90,000,000 dollar budget.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Shoddy-at-times CGI, an aspect ratio that I’m still unable to love (though you get used to it pretty easily), borderline too much slow motion and a slow ass motherfucking first half may take away from this film, sure, but there is so much more that elevates it above a majority of superhero/comic book movies, especially some in the last couple of years.

First of all I just love the cinematography! I think the slow-mo is over used, but the cinematography…
