Rebecca Ryan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Carol is a rising tide, a slow swell of ebbs and flows, of distance and intimacy.
As they try to determine where they stand, Carol and Therese are at arm's length from each other, and also from us, the audience. We see them partially obscured, framed beautifully through a hallway. They talk on the phone, separated by space. The distance we feel, both between the characters, and between them and ourselves, only makes the moments of intimacy all the more intense. And this is a film of moments.
