I love to discover cult movies, hidden gems, that one movie that is completely bonkers.
There is absolutely no logic to my rating system.
Pure sweet sticky fluorescent eye candy. Visual effects by the legendary John Dykstra.
What fear can do to a man! I was actually quite bored the first and second act. (It reminded me too much of the barn part 2, I watched recently) I got intrigued in third when I started to understand what was going on. Will be better on a rewatch.
With John Hawkes.
Right from the start this feels much more like a Tim Burton movie. Baby pinguin kept in a closed, barred crib devoures a cat. He is dropped off by his parents in the sewers and adopted by a family of pinguïns. All underpinned by a gothic Danny Elfman score. That opening makes clear Batman is just a secondary character in this film. Where the first one suffers from a backlot quality and out of place Prince songs, here the world building is completely believable. It improves in every aspect on Batman.
Why do we need this in UHD? For the ultra high definition titties I assume. I am not going to say no to that.
Sleazy predecessor of Seven. It is worth sitting through for some utterly bizarre scenes. My favorite? The banana split story.
