Bold decision to make a three-hour mob movie then follow it up with a 30-minute epilogue hammering in that everything you have just seen was pointless.
I'm not even being sarcastic. What lingers over most movies of this ilk, Scorseses included, is how easily lives are taken away with little to no marginal utility for the parties benefitting from their deaths. "I Hear You Paint Horses" (let's be honest: that's the title of this movie) is a bonanza of crime, fraud, and death, and what for? No one benefits but a lot of people suffer. It's pathetic, really. This is a movie about pathetic people.
Movie's VERY funny. Thelma could have easily gutted an hour from it.
Also, Pacino codes Hoffa as queer, which is a choice.
