Zack’s review published on Letterboxd:
Marvelous mayhem. Tightest, wittiest screenplay of 2018. Rachel Weisz, Olivia Coleman (BEST ACTRESS) and Emma Stone are tremendous and such a joy to watch, they hit every mark with brute force and are all worthy of awards. Lanthimos’ direction is some of his best in what is easily his most enjoyable film and probably his finest to date (from what I’ve seen). The costume design and set design is spectacular, on par with Barry Lyndon I would even say. The cinematography is eye candy. The editing is as smooth as the script. This thing is just such a blast from start to finish but ultimately, The Favourite proves to be a tale of tragedy above all else. It’s plain wonderful. This is something I will be bound to revisit again and again in the future, even if just to pick up on some of the sharp dialogue that went over my head.
