Hidden ★★★

I can't help but compare this to A Quiet Place, which felt like it was begging to be less straightforward. This throws curves that could be a little more graceful, but at least it bothers. Where the former played the family-in-peril card with cold calculation, 'Hidden' lets the relationships shine without feeling like a clumsy tool to manipulate the viewer's investment, while bringing elegantly tragic force to the final act.
