This Ben Stiller movie seems to divide fans – they either get on board and hail it as Stiller’s best comedic performance, or they brandish it as weak in terms of comical value in comparison to the revered Anchorman. I am on the side of it being Stiller’s best ever movie, however I may be influenced by the nostalgic hold this has over me, taking me back to a group of my teenage friends and I rolling around in stitches…
Ok so this movie will require a bit of effort seeing as it is subtitled, but I can assure you it's worth it. I might be a tad biased due to my African upbringing but what you see is a movie from the usually overlooked perspective as what would be perceived as the 'villain'. Tsotsi means thief. What you will see is an insight into the path that leads a boy to become a thief. Set in South Africa, this is sadly too true a story for many of the locals whose lives inevitably lead down a hopeless path.
This brave documentary serves as a poignant reminder of a very current tragic situation in the country Zimbabwe. The footage gives you a very true insight into the suffering of so many. It's a heart wrenching story, stirring up your desire for justice and a restoration of humanity to not only a financially ruined land but a seemingly morally desolate place. Most definitely worth your time to see the great courage of the Campbells.
