Cameron Menefee’s review published on Letterboxd:
While this movie is much better than Antoine Fuqua's previously released movie earlier this year Infinite, The Guilty is still a rather mixed bag of a movie at best.
It did some things well such as great acting performance from Jake Gyllenhaal, decent cinematography, score, and overall direction, it also left plenty of room for improvement such as a weak underwhelming story and screenplay, characters you don't care too much about, slow tedious pacing, no real tension, and a pretty dumb ending. Just simply put, not bad but not great neither.
Only thing I am guilty of is not watching the supposedly better 2018 film from Denmark, which I honestly didn't know this movie was an American remake of the former.
Watched on Netflix (a Netflix Original movie after all).
