"You don't see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage."

I've seen this movie too many times to count, but last night was my first time seeing the actual theatrical version as opposed to the director's cut, and even though there's some cool stuff missing it works approx. 1000 times better than the one I'm used to, giving you time to meet and fall in love with all these characters before throwing them into the jaws of death and almost never letting up - this has to be one of the only monster movies ever with a wholly satisfactory conclusion, where you're not even a little sad to see the monster die because you don't have the energy for any more movie.

James Cameron has always been obsessed with hardware, machinery, cybernetics, technology, and this is his only movie (save Piranha 2: The Spawning) with a wholly, horrifyingly biological antagonist(s), and he absolutely nails the slimy, subliminally sexual nature of the xenomorph with a scary power, keeping it where it's most effective - in the periphery, never the central focus.
