Joe’s review published on Letterboxd:
Allan Arkush / Todd Haynes double features: not for the faint of heart or environmentally sensitive!
This is incredible, Sirkian, Cronenbergian, even Kubrickian, but what really kicks it over is Julianne Moore's lead performance, just an absolute heartbreaker knockout in every scene. If she wasn't completely believable as Carol White the movie could have devolved into black comedy, but as is it never tips over into that and remains ruthlessly unnerving. My boy Xander Berkeley nails it too of course, but I wasn't ready for Jessica Harper and holy shit, was that Crazy Joe Davola as one of Carol's quack doctors??
