Zac’s review published on Letterboxd:
Immediate Rating: 8/10
Rating after 24/48 hours:
Positives/Negatives:
+Taika Waititi’s Hitler steals every scene
+Jojo’s core relationship starts rocky but gets sturdier with time
+the blue butterfly = biggest jaw drop
+the last 30 minutes made the movie for me, definitely took the film to another level and allowed Taika to say what he wanted to say
+Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen as a supporting cast
-first hour is a little hit or miss on comedy and tone
Way Too Early Oscar Thoughts: definitely the hardest to predict... if the world accepts it then it’s a lock for screenplay, supporting actor, and picture, however, I think it’s more likely to only get one of these (screenplay for Taika)
Notes to Myself to Remember:
-Taika owned the crowd during the introduction
