A Prayer Before Dawn ★★★★½

A Prayer Before Dawn, directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and based on the true story of Billy Moore, an English boxer who was imprisoned in one of the most notorious prisons in Thailand where he learnt and fought Muay Thai to earn his freedom.

It's a whole other level of fighter film, very much a sensory experience as the majority of dialogue is not in English and is not subtitled, putting the viewer in the same state of confusion and fear as the main character, played here beautifully and pretty damn bruisedly by Joe Cole.

It's an impressive film, body, brutal and weirdly poetic.
